There will be no training on Monday October 7th, as the hall will be in use preparing for the University Societies' Fair. Training will return to normal the following week.
Shihan John van Weenen OMT MBE, 8th Dan, is the guest instructor for the SKA Open Day, which will take place on Sunday 20th October, from 12 noon to 5pm, at Southbury Leisure Centre. Shihan van Weenen was one of the originators of Shotokan Karate in Europe. He started learning karate in Australia in 1963, returning to England in 1966 and forming one of England's first clubs, based in Enfield, Middlesex. He is the author of a collection of definitive works on Shotokan Karate including the UK’s best seller, The Beginners Guide to Shotokan Karate.
This year's SKA Open Day has been postponed from 7th July. More details will be published about the new date when they become available.
Well done to Ross, who successfully graded to Second Dan at the grading in Enfield on Saturday 25th May 2013.
Monday, May 6th is a Bank Holiday, so training at Kelsey Kerridge will not be at the normal 8.30 time. We have, however, booked the hall from 5-7pm for a special two hour session working on basics. The cost will be shared among those attending.
We apologise for the recent downtime on the website, which was caused by the need to sort out some security problems. These have all now been resolved successfully with the help of our web hosting company, and normal service is resumed.
There will be an extra hour's training on Monday 25th February from 9.30-10.30 at Kelsey Kerridge, when Sensei Claire will concentrate on Heian Nidan. The cost of hiring the hall will be shared between those attending.
